Advantages / Benefits & Disadvantages of Hydroponics.

There are many advantages & disadvantages when it comes to hydroponic growing.

Bigger yields with faster growth are some of the main advantages loved by hydroponic growers, saving you precious time allowing extra harvests due to all year long growing periods.

Hydroponic systems typically use up to 90% water less than traditional irrigation methods saving money on water bills & nutrients and valuable natural resources.

With easier harvests and massively reduced waste due to not needing soil to root a plant.

Hydroponics allows you optimal use of space and complete control of your environment providing your plants with the best home to live and less of a need to use pesticides.

However hydroponics can be time consuming and need constant monitoring. With a lengthy and expensive setup, they offer a longer return on investment as opposed to traditional soil methods.

Micro organisms can penetrate systems with ease, spreading disease with even more vigour due to shared water in systems.

Potential electricity or water loss can cause total loss to your crops if they occur, another reason for consent monitoring.

Hydroponic system do not cope well with organic nutrients, as they are less viscous and block up pipes, and leaves a biofilm in reservoir tanks.
